Happy Cinco de Mayo 2012 – Photo by: Google.com/images
Cinco de Mayo is coming up, it’s a traditional holiday celebrated by Mexico. This holiday is primarily celebrated in Puebla, where this holiday is called ‘El Dia de la Batalla de Puebla’ Translation: The Day of the Battle of Puebla. It celebrates there freedom from the first years of the American Civil War and the victory over French Forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
This year I decided to share 3 Drink recipes I found that are my favorites:
1. Margarita – 7 parts tequila, 4 parts triple sec and 3 parts lime juice, served on the rocks; a salted rim is optional. No strawberries, no mangoes, no blenders, and most importantly, no Cuervo Gold. Use a real tequila, one that’s marked 100% de agave, but don’t splurge; you don’t need $50-a-fifth sipping tequila for this drink. You can find the recipe Here
2. Paloma – A shot of tequila and three shots of Squirt, Jarritos Toronja or another grapefruit soda, served on the rocks. Try a good tequila here too, I promise you won’t regret it.
3. El Diablo – 1 1/2 ounce(s) Tequila (Again try a good tequila)
1 ounce of cranberry juice, Fresh squeezed lime juice, 1/2 ounce of simple syrup and a splash of ginger ale. Add a wedged lime if you like.
Hope you have a great Cinco de Mayo!
Enjoy and be responsible. 😉

Any plans for St. Patty this year? Each year people get together, they go to the Pub, and they drink green beer and have fun. Corned beef hash, shepherd’s pie, cabbage and Irish beer are essentials for any authentic Irish party. Plan on staying home and having a party, you can make any of those dishes. I personally do not go out and make an authentic Irish meal, but I have thought about what I can make to at least have the color green it. I was ordered from our group’s director to bring scalloped potatoes…. Any way I can make that look IRISH? LOL
In any event, wearing green is the key essential, and since we might be going in the pool, I’ll have to have a green towel or a green cover up for my bathing suit, if you are reading and you don’t live in Miami, well it’s practically summer here already so bathing suites are in. If you plan on going out there will be an early party at Fred B. Harnett Park in Coral Gables featuring Irish food, musical entertainment, craft vendors, kids activities and a full-service bar, Let the Irish Festival BEGIN! Party later on in the night at John Martin’s on Miracle Mile in the Gables which is always a hot spot, they usually start around 4pm to midnight on Salzedo Street with live music and in the meantime you can have traditional Irish food starting at 11:30AM in the restaurant. There are also other Irish pubs you can get to, there is Playwright Irish Pub & Restaurant which is located in Miami Beach, Finnegans on Ocean Drive, Fado Irish Pub in Mary Brickell Village and much more. You can search for different pubs in your area on Yelp.com – One of my favorite places to look up ratings and close by vicinities. You can do this in any area you are in.
I would love to hear what festivities are going on in your area…..
Happy St. Patrick’s everyone….

Every year we bring out the flowers and chocolate, the cards and the gifts. We express to those we love, just how much we love them. If you are in a new relationship we show how much we care, and if you are just going on a date to not be alone on Valentine, we show companionship. Everyone loves to be Loved on Valentine’s Day, I wrote a poem about how I feel and I wanted to share it with you.
Happy Valentine’s Day – If you are with someone you love – Enjoy this day and share the love you have with each other. If you are alone – Have hope and never give up, because one day you will feel loved by that special someone.
My Dearest Valentine
Today because it’s Valentine’s I tell you how I feel
I tell you how much I love you and how our love is real.
I tell you all the things that I hold in all year long
I don’t know why I wait so long to express my love.
I should tell you every day the feelings I hold inside
All the words I feel but never say
All the love I feel but never display
Today because it’s Valentine’s I tell you how I feel
I want you to know that I love you
And that our love is real
I want to tell you how you make me feel
The butterflies inside
How every time I look at you my feelings grow inside
When you kiss me I never want to let you go
When you hold me I feel safe
When I need you, I know I can count on you
You aren’t just my love
You’re my best friend
Today and always you will be
My dearest Valentine.

~ I love you Tony with all my heart and I look forward to many more Valentine’s Days together.~
Each year we think about things we can do on Valentine’s day. Some of us with our boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife and others who are single and can’t stand all the happy go lucky people who are getting ready to celebrate this holiday that was invented called Valentine’s Day.
I have come up with 5 ideas for couples to do on Valentine’s day and 5 ideas for those who are single.
~ Enjoy your night, it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune to be romantic, and have a nice night, just be inventive and be with that person you love….
5 Ideas for Couples:
5. Stay in and light up some candles, fresh flowers, message oils and you have your own private spa…. This spa should definitely lead to a ‘happy ending’.
4. Order Out – who says you have to get home from work and start cooking a gourmet meal? Order your favorite dish, place it on some nice plates, pop open the champagne or wine and BAM! Romantic dinner for two that took you 2 minutes to prepare.
3. Some people like to go out to dinner, so GO OUT! Make reservations, it doesn’t have to be the most known place, try picking a quiet, little place no one really knows about, this way you get seated right away and it feels a little more intimate than a big franchise restaurant.
2. Celebrate Valentine’s Day the weekend before. If you want to go out and not worry about having to wake up the next morning for work, celebrate it the weekend before. There isn’t a law that says you can’t. Go out to dinner on Saturday, get a few drinks, and talk the night away. Then head back home for some extra ‘cuddling’.
1. Plan a weekend vacation for Valentine’s. My boyfriend and I always do a mini vacation to Orlando and we go to Universal and Islands of Adventure. You can say it’s become a tradition of ours. We love it, during the day we get to act like kids and go on roller coasters and at night we become grown ups and we go out to dinner and have some drinks.
5 Ideas for those who are single:
5. Girls Night – If you have any single friends, plan a girls night – Order in your favorite dish (pizza, sushi etc). Rent a comedy movie and enjoy your night.
4. Pamper Yourself – While others are going out to dinner and being all lovey dovey, you can be enjoying a day at the spa. Take the day off from work or go after work. Get a massage and just relax.
3. Wine it up…. Some of us just like to feel sorry for ourselves. So if that’s what you like to do, there is nothing wrong with that. Open up a bottle of wine, grab a girly movie to watch and sip away…..This is the one time of year that we’ll forgive you for feeling down.
2. Blind Date? Okay so I’m not really one for blind dates, but I’ve heard some good stories. If you don’t want to be alone, have a friend fix you up. If you can… try to take a peak at that picture before you make your decision.
1. Do Nothing – Valentine’s lands on a Tuesday this year, so go to work, and finish your day off like you normally would.
Whether you are with someone or not, I hope you have a beautiful Valentine’s Day.
Saint Patrick’s Day is a religious holiday celebrated internationally on the 17th of March. It is named after Saint Patrick (c. AD 387–461), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. It originated as a Catholic holiday and became an official feast day in the early 17th century. It has gradually become more of a secular celebration of Irish culture. (via Wikipedia.org
Here is a fun poem for St. Patrick’s Day…. ENJOY
I’ll Wear a Shamrock
St. Patrick’s Day is with us,
The day when all that’s seen
To right and left and everywhere
Is green, green, green!
And Irish tunes they whistle
And Irish songs they sing,
To-day each Irish lad walks out
As proud as any king.
I’ll wear a four-leaf shamrock
In my coat, the glad day through,
For my father and mother are Irish
And I am Irish too!
Another year gone by, and another Valentine’s is here. Not everyone is blessed to be in a relationship. Valentine’s day is said to bring a lot of depression and suicide rates up. People need to realize that Valentine’s day is just a holiday invented by people to celebrate your love, but you shouldn’t just celebrate it one day out of the year, you should celebrate your love 365 days out of the year. Okay well not exactly celebrate since you can’t buy gifts and go out to dinner every single day of the year, but you can celebrate it by loving each other, respecting each other, making memories that will last a life time.
If you are couple go out, be romantic but don’t just do this special thing on Valentine’s day, go all out on a regular day, I think it would mean so much more than just because it’s Valentine’s Day. Don’t get me wrong, flowers and a gift is nice on Valentine’s day too…
For those who don’t have someone to celebrate Valentine’s day with, why not go out with a friend, have some drinks, watch a movie. If you feel sad don’t fret, there is always next year.
Happy Valentine’s All – hope you have a wonderful day!
Here’s a poem I found:
It’s More Than Saying I Love You
We give on this day candy and flowers,
But we never stop to say thank you for the many hours.
You have stood by my side and gave a smile,
As if to tell our hearts it’s been worth every mile.
No need to buy a teddy bear or even a card,
It’s pretty simple and not at all hard.
Just put your arms around me and hold me tight,
And say without words that in your heart all is right.
You may say I Love You throughout the year,
But on this day you need to make sure.
The words so sweet and straight from your heart,
That your life would be lonely without my part.
So put forth the effort and take the time,
Look me in the eye and say I’m glad you’re mine. ~By Marai
Another year flown by, another year older, another year to set goals and another year where dreams can come true…
Each year we get older we realize the change, we see life pass us by, and we make goals some achieved some left written on the paper you started to write about your dreams, and sometimes we just forget and we loose track on what is really important to us. In life I have learned that life is way to short, we don’t always get what we want, we sometimes think we are going to live our lives a certain way, or with a certain someone, and that isn’t what was meant to be. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, and tomorrow may never come, so I’ve learned the hard way a few times that when you want something, when you really love someone, when you really know what you want, GO FOR IT! Life is too short for the what if’s, or maybe’s in life, or even the I can always do it later… What holds us back from the possibilities; from the things in life we really want? As humans we have too many doubts we hold ourselves back, we make excuses because of family and friends but at the end of the day we are the ones who control our own fate, we are the ones who control what to do with our lives, and if we keep holding back, you will life always wondering about the “what if’s, maybes in life and I can always do it later”.
This year, I move forward, I hope that with fate and love from God that I am strong enough to surpass the goals I have in life, to live life to the fullest and do all the things I have been dreaming and thinking about lately. A new beginning, a new start into a new life.
Live. Love. Laugh
