  • Memorial Weekend…(Mark Aaron James)

I know I am a little late on telling you how my Memorial Weekend went. I apologize. I have been so busy with school and work, and studying that I haven’t had the time to catch up.

    So my weekend….

Friday we ended up not doing much, just hanging out at the house and I studied. Saturday we hung out during the day and at night got ready for a house concert at one of my boyfriends clients house. The artist: Mark Aaron James. I hadn’t heard about him until Saturday night, and let me tell you, I really enjoyed the night. It started off muggy, and it did rain a little but we were under the tent, and there was a nice breeze. This is something rare here in Miami LOL. So there was food and drinks and music. Can’t ask for a better night. 😉

    So back to Mark….

His music lyrics remind me a lot of Jason Mraz. It’s funny, different, happy. I loved it. He sang and played the guitar wonderfully. Look below and you can see his picture. I also recommend you checking him out.

    Sunday…

Sunday we stayed home during the day, while I studied some more, and at night we met up with another couple friend and went to my favorite Sushi place… Shibui. 🙂

We ate, and as I enjoyed the mouth watering sushi in my mouth we talked and enjoyed the night. Later went over to a Bar near by called Skully’s Tavern. Mind you, I used to go here when I was little with my Aunt, and I have to say the place looks good. The drinks were good too. They closed at 1:30 so we headed out to the Tavern by Sunset Place. Had more drinks, talked more and ended the night GREAT!!!!

    Monday…

To not go into to much detail, my dad was in the hospital Sunday night and had to get his appendix removed. He’s okay and home now, but Monday, I had to go visit him at the hospital. We then went to my house and my brother, sister in law and nephews were there. So I studied more ( I KNOW, I KNOW, I’m so studious) LOL…. We ate some good BBQ & Later went back to my boyfriends house. It was a great weekend, very busy and getting ready for a big test I have tomorrow and a long busy weekend a head of me.

Until next time… shoot me an email with questions or leave comments.

  • The Opera (Madama Butterfly)

Last night I went to my first Opera. It’s sad that our culture here in the United States isn’t as educated about Theater and Opera and other things as most other countries are. I was very happy however, to see that the Opera was pretty full.

    Madama Butterfly
Madama Butterfly – A must see Opera

    The Opera

The first Opera I went to see was called Madama Butterfly. The story is incredible. I only wish I could understand Italian so I didn’t have to read the teleprompter. Either way, the show was amazing. Honestly I am one of those people who never was educated about Opera or anything of the sort. I am happy that I was able to go last night, I actually would look forward to seeing another Opera. This story was so touching that I actually had to hold back my tears at the end of the Opera. The performers were incredible, at one point 3 singers were singing different verses, with passion and it just sounded incredible. The orchestra was also very amazing, and beautiful.

    My thoughts

If you haven’t gone to see an Opera I recommend you at least try it. Most people in the audience were much older, I would say around their 60’s and up. However, I did see more than a handful of younger people as well. This definitely however, tells me that we need to start teaching our Children different culture other then what the radio station plays in your home town. These people on these stages are incredible. It is something that everyone should experience at least once. I would love to also go to a Ballet, I have always wanted to do this. See the Nutcracker, and the musical Wicked. There is so much to see, and most of us don’t even know it’s out there.

  • Jason Mraz – Miami Beach Concert

Friday 12/05/08, I went with my boyfriend to the Jason Mraz concert. It was incredible, not only does he have a great voice, he’s funny and entertaining. I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. The only request I would have had, was that he would have played, Bella Luna and You & I. Those two songs, I wish he had sung. Other than that I can’t complain. I wish I could see him again. I definitely recommend to go see him and I definitely will go to see him again when he comes back down here.

Jason’s opening act, was Anya Marina. I had never heard of her, but she was great as well. She has that raspy voice going on and all alone on stage playing the guitar. I loved it. She was funny and a great opening act. It was only her, so we didn’t have to wait forever before Jason came on stage.

I will attach a picture later tonight, when I’m on my computer at home.

Right now I’m listening to Jason as I work. 🙂

  • Cirque du soleil – Cortez

Last night I went to go see the Cirque du soleil – Cortez with my boyfriend and his mom. It was awesome! It is a must see show. It’s entertainment, comedy, musical theater, all in one. I would see it again if I could. I had previously in August for my boyfriends birthday went to Orlando and saw La Nouba, this also was a spectacular show. They have similar acts but yet different in their own ways. And the story lines are completely different.

The show was 2 1/2 hours, with a 30 minute intermission. It is worth every penny! Lucky for us also the weather was awesome outside, afterward we went to eat, I didn’t really want to go because I was so tired and I had to wake up this morning at 6:15am but we went ate and it was delicious! LOL. I passed out when we got home, it was probably a little passed midnight.

For anyone who wants to see this show I recommend it 100%. These people are very talented and bring lots of joy to everyone in the audience.

  • Jennifer Hudson

My prayers go out to Jennifer Hudson and her family. I have been reading and following up with the case of her Mother, Brother and Nephews murder. I think it’s terrible that something like this happens in our world that we live in today. I could never imagine the sadness and anger she must be going through at this moment. I pray that she stay strong and they find the person or people who have done this to her family.

How can someone be so cruel, so evil as to murder 2 adults and a child. I can’t come to comprehend the actions of this person. What they were thinking, feeling or going through when they decided to do this. I don’t know how Jennifer or her family is reacting to all this, but I can only imagine that it isn’t good. I don’t know what I would do if I was in her position, but I know that I couldn’t rest until they caught whom ever did this.

I pray they catch who did this, and I hope that Jennifer Hudson and her family have the strength to keep moving forward!
