  • Memorial Weekend Ideas?!?

So many People have plans this weekend. Is it going to rain? Is it going to be fun?

    Ideas

Have any idea’s on what to do for Memorial Weekend? I have heard many people talking about going to Orlando for the long weekend and others are going to the Keys. Does anyone else have a different plan? What are your ideas? Depends where you live, what’s there to do for fun?

I know a lot of people in Miami, considering the weather, will probably go to the Beach. I’m hoping for a nice weekend, maybe I’ll go to the beach myself. 🙂

Have ideas let me know. Email me at soapnights@gmail.com

  • School – Summer Term

    Summer Term

I am taking a pre algebra class this summer term. Now you have to understand how lost I am. I haven’t taken a math course in at least oh lets see…. 5 years or more =/

    So Nervous…

So now I am sitting in class. Very nervous and the professor walks in. Tall & slim with brown thinning hair and glasses. He speaks well, with certainty of what he is teaching. I know now at this point he is going to be a good professor. A bit strict though. We are only graded on 4 tests. If you miss one, you can still pass with an A. He drops the lowest grade at the end of the semester. However, he states that if you miss 2 tests you automatically fail. Now I don’t plan on missing any tests, but you never know what might happen, that you can’t show up. The professor stands, tall and with a stern voice implies that if you’re sick, or if your aunt is in the hospital and you have to take her that these will not be excused excuses to miss a test. I can understand if you have a small cold, more then likely you can still make it in. However, if my mom was in the hospital and I couldn’t make it in, this should be an exception. There should be exceptions. This I did not like about the Professor. I can only hope nothing happens. I can’t afford to miss not one test. He also doesn’t waive grades. If you got a 69 (D) he won’t push it to that one point so that you can get a 70 (C). This is fine with me, I can only hope I do good. Again it’s been 5 years!

I came home that night and started my homework. There were about 3 questions I am still uncertain about. So this Tuesday I have to get to class early so that I can ask him about these 3 questions. I am very nervous, I hate doing bad and I stress easily. So I’m just going to have to really try and focus and do all my homework for practice.

    Wish me luck!!!

  • New York Trip

    NEW YORK

My New York trip was amazing, I only wish that it would have been longer. I got there Wednesday night around 9:00 because my flight was delayed twice. As soon as I got there, I got a taxi at the airport. I was alone, so it was a bit scary, since I never did this before. I told the driver the address to my hotel as if I had done this a million times. Off we went to the hotel. I arrived around 9:30 where my boyfriend met me outside to pay the taxi for me. We went up to our room. A two bedroom suite we were sharing with his cousin and his cousin’s wife. We got the smaller room with our own restroom. The restroom was outside the room, but right across the hall and the room had a full size bed with two night stands attached. There was a chair on the right hand corner of the room with our luggage on top of it. My boyfriend had taken our big luggage with him Tuesday morning.

I opened the view to the big city. It was a bit rainy but a beautiful night. I had already done my hair here at home, so I freshened up my makeup, washed my bangs and got dressed. Our first night out we headed to an Italian restaurant. My dish wasn’t the best I’ve had, so I was a bit disappointed, however, when I went looking for the restroom it was down stairs. We found a little bar down there. Very cool looking, with little nooks, of a card table, packman and more. We hung out there until the rain passed. We then headed out to this little lounge/club where we drank some more and danced. We got back to the hotel around 5am and decided to look for a place to eat. We could only find a little market near by. My boyfriend and his cousin got breakfast and us girls just decided to not eat. I am not a breakfast person so at this point I just wanted to sleep! I had already been up for 24 hours.

    Thursday in New York

Thursday we got up and headed to the Light Fair. This was the reason my boyfriend and his cousin was there. We walked around with them for about 2 hours. As we were heading out, it was raining hard, we ended up having to buy a $10 umbrella so we can go walking looking for a taxi. None of the taxi’s were heading towards where we were, so we had to go towards them. As we arrive to a corner, we pull over a taxi. The taxi driver put his blinker on, but this huge truck had to break a little. The guy got out of the truck and started yelling at the taxi driver and banging on his car. We were all shocked at first, so we just stayed quiet. The taxi driver defended himself and his car, stating he put his blinker on, and if the guy kept hitting his car, he would call the cops. As the little old man (taxi driver) turned away, the guy pushed him. That is when my boyfriends Cousin finally told the guy to back off. The guy didn’t even look our way, he finally just got back in his truck. We got into the taxi, and headed to China Town. It was still raining, but that wasn’t going to stop us from going to a little whole in the wall Chinese restaurant. The food was Delish! We later walked around, but it was a bit hard to look with all the rain. We headed to Sojo where I attempted to buy clothes. And as you have it “murphey’s law” came into play, as I didn’t find not one piece of clothing, not one pair of shoes, not one purse to buy. We went back to the hotel to get ready for our night adventure. We went to the comedy club where we laughed our hearts out, then we went to eat sushi, and out to party. The night ended real late.

This is me behind a door in New York...

    Friday in New York

Friday we went to Central Park, 5th Ave, we went by where the Twin Towers used to be, China Town, the subway and it was all wonderful. We went out to eat friday night and I was so full I couldn’t breath. We went to a lounge that was more like a club and then we went to the pub near our hotel. The night ended great.

    Saturday

We packed our things and headed to the airport, I wish I had more time in New York, but I truly had a great time with my boyfriend and his cousins. Next time we go we have to see so much stuff and so much more to eat. This was only the beginning of our many trips. I cannot wait for our next trip =)

  • American Airlines ripping people off

So as most of you know if you keep up with my blog, I am going to New York for the first time this week. I am super excited. I am almost done packing and everything. As excited as I am, I am very disappointed in the Airlines. American Airlines to be exact.

    American Airlines

I had heard that Airlines were charging you to Check in one bag let alone every additional bag after that due to the Gas prices going up. I believe the gas prices have dropped and yet they keep charging you to check in a bag. I don’t think they should charge you to check in one bag. We have a right to at least check in one bag. If you want to charge me for an additional bag, even though I still think it’s ridiculous, then go a head. But I believe that we have a right to at least check in ONE BAG!!! Some airlines only charge $5 to $15 dollars per bag. Not American Airlines. American Airlines charges you $15 for the first Check in Bag and $25 for an additional check in bag. That’s only going ONE WAY! So round trip if you have to check in bags you end up spending an additional 80 dollars, on top of your airline ticket. That’s only for one person. So for example, my boyfriend and I are going together, we are only taking 2 bags since we found out about this charge, so that will be a total of 60 dollars on top of our airline tickets. I just don’t understand what I’m paying for an airline ticket for, if I can’t even check in One Bag?!? I am very upset about this, and I think next time I will definitely double check what the airline charges for check in bags, and I most likely won’t go with American Airlines again.

If you ask me, I rather you charge me 15 dollars more for my airline ticket then charge me for my bag when I go to check in. I feel like American Airlines is ripping people off…

What are your thoughts on this?

  • Confirmation

So last night was my sisters Confirmation. Yes on a Thursday at 7 p.m. We had to be there by 6 though, and thankfully we were because we would have not gotten seats other wise.

    The Confirmation

The Confirmation was very organized and the mass went fairly quick. The Bishop is the one who Confirmed all the kids, which is the first time I have seen this happen. Usually it’s the priest. I thought it was very nice though. The Bishop knew how to speak and the entire mass kept you listening to every word he said. He was funny too. I think we need more people like him in the churches, it keeps children more interested in what they are saying. The mass lasted an hour and a half. After it ended we headed back to my house where my mom already had the dinner ready. We had bistec empanizado (breaded steak) with moro (rice & beans) & platano maduro (plantains). It was all very good. We ate, cut the cake, talked & laughed. I think the night turned out wonderful. Confirming your faith is important to our family and I think it was a beautiful mass and my sister looked beautiful.

  • The Opera (Madama Butterfly)

Last night I went to my first Opera. It’s sad that our culture here in the United States isn’t as educated about Theater and Opera and other things as most other countries are. I was very happy however, to see that the Opera was pretty full.

    Madama Butterfly
Madama Butterfly – A must see Opera

    The Opera

The first Opera I went to see was called Madama Butterfly. The story is incredible. I only wish I could understand Italian so I didn’t have to read the teleprompter. Either way, the show was amazing. Honestly I am one of those people who never was educated about Opera or anything of the sort. I am happy that I was able to go last night, I actually would look forward to seeing another Opera. This story was so touching that I actually had to hold back my tears at the end of the Opera. The performers were incredible, at one point 3 singers were singing different verses, with passion and it just sounded incredible. The orchestra was also very amazing, and beautiful.

    My thoughts

If you haven’t gone to see an Opera I recommend you at least try it. Most people in the audience were much older, I would say around their 60’s and up. However, I did see more than a handful of younger people as well. This definitely however, tells me that we need to start teaching our Children different culture other then what the radio station plays in your home town. These people on these stages are incredible. It is something that everyone should experience at least once. I would love to also go to a Ballet, I have always wanted to do this. See the Nutcracker, and the musical Wicked. There is so much to see, and most of us don’t even know it’s out there.

  • New York Trip (Mini Vacation)

Finally I’m going to New York!!!

I have been wanting to visit New York for years now. My uncle used to live in New York and I had always wanted to visit him and never got the chance. I also have family in Long Island, New York that I have never gone to see, some family that I have never met, except for a Great Aunt. So finally, it’s here, I’m going to New York.

    How It Happened…

My boyfriend is going for a business trip on a Tuesday and he was going to come back that Thursday or Friday but his boss returned him back Saturday instead, so we decided I can make a mini vacation out of it. I leave Wednesday afternoon and arrive around 7:30 p.m. We’ll be staying near Eastern Manhattan. I am so excited to be going. I won’t be there long so I won’t be able to do some of the things I always wanted to do, like see a Broadway show, but I’m sure I’ll be going back again, and that will be one of the first things on my list. The Thursday Morning my boyfriend has to work, so I was thinking of walking and going SHOPPING! 😉

Like I said this is my first time there. Any suggestions as to what to see and where to go??? I would love to hear your input!!!

  • Plan a party at someone elses house without letting them know?!

    Dear Kristin Nicole,

I have a friend who came over last weekend, and we discussed having a get together at my house to watch movies and eat with a bunch of our friends. However, I didn’t confirm with her and she went on to invite everyone without letting me know about it. On top of everything I realized I had a big project due this Saturday, my boyfriend will be painting the house and I have a lot of work to do as well. I told her that we had to cancel because of all the things I had to do and she sent an email out inviting everyone to another one of our friends house, without even confirming with him or asking him if it was okay to do that. She is out of control, and my friend called her best friend to tell her we needed to do something about this because she was getting out of control. Now she canceled the surprise graduation party she had for her best friend on Monday because her best friend told her she couldn’t throw the parties at either of our houses. How do we tell her that it’s just not right to invite people to other people’s houses with out discussing it with them first?

    ~ Frustrated Friend

    Dear Frustrated Friend,

To be blunt your friend needs to learn some manners. It is very rude to invite yourself and others to someone elses house with out their approval. However, I understand that she is your friend and you guys are just trying to let her know that she needs to discuss things with you first before planning events at your house. Perhaps your friend just got a little excited about the whole get together, that she doesn’t realize that what she is doing isn’t the right way to go about things. Sit down with your friend and let her know that you were a little upset because she didn’t confirm with you. That next time you just need her to confirm with you before inviting people to your house. As for your other friend who was also upset, he should also tell her that she can not just invite people to his house with out asking him. Explain to her that you aren’t upset with her, you just need to communicate more with each other before planning any events. Or just don’t plan any other events with her to assure that she won’t go off the handle and plans things with out your permission.

  • Murder mystery to hit primetime TV

    Roaming the Internet:

As I was looking at stories to discuss today I ran into this story. A story I read last year and couldn’t believe. They had found a mans body in a van in a canal in Coral Springs. He had been missing for more than 30 years. This Saturday on CBS 48 Hour Mystery at 10 p.m. they are planning on airing a movie about it, called “Deep Secret”. The story about Jeffrey Walter Klee.

    The Story:

Jeffrey Walter Klee, was only 18, when he went missing on July 12, 1977. They didn’t find his body until March 26, 2008, when police discovered his bones inside a van found in a Broward County canal.

Coral Springs police say that after the discovery of his remains the killer eventually came to confess his murder. Jeffrey was murdered by his best friend David Cusanelli. Unfortunately David Cusanelli who allegedly admitted to killing his friend in a fight over a “mutual love interest”, was not prosecuted due to Florida’s Statue of limitations.

CBS States that Laurel Steele, Klee’s younger sister, said the episode includes video of Cusanelli’s confession to police and interviews with the friends’ love interest and a woman to whom Cusanelli reportedly told his secret.

    My thoughts:

I remember hearing the story when they found Jeffery’s body and I couldn’t believe after so many years they found his body so close to his own home. Now more then 30 years later the family can rest knowing what happened to their son. But is it enough? Is it better knowing that his best friend killed him over a love interest? Knowing that his body was so close to home just sitting their in a van? Or was it better not knowing at all what happened? It can’t be easy knowing something so horrible happened to someone you love. Jeffery was only 18 years old. He had his whole life ahead of him, and it was taken away over a “love interest”? Are you serious? The man who killed him claims to had been his “best friend”. I don’t agree that he was his best friend, or a friend at that matter. To let a “love interest” come between your friendship, let alone lead to murder.

It’s also intolerably comprehensible that the Florida statue doesn’t allow us to prosecute David Cusanelli. He admitted to a murder that happened over 30 years ago, but just because it happened so long ago, doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be punished for his actions.

May Jeffrey Walter Klee finally rest in peace, and my prayers go to his family for having to suffer all these years, not knowing what happened to him. Now they know, but is it enough?

What do you think about the situation?

    XO,
    Kristin Nicole

  • Words Unspoken

With words unspoken I turn to you,
With every being in me I say to you,
The love I have is oh so rare,
A moment shared is without a care,
So deeply moved in the oceans blue,
As I look at you and truly see,
That what we have is special,
    That we share is true,
With every pulse and every breath I know that I love you.

Sometimes I stare into the sky,
    And wonder what will be,
As I close my eyes ,
    I see you there,
Holding me close as I pull back my hair,
And with every sparkle in the sky,
I see my future through your bright green eyes.

With words unspoken I turn to you,
I say I love you with meanings so true,
And every night I go to bed,
I say a prayer in my head.

Lord watch over us every night,
Because a love like this is hard to find.
With every fiber in my soul, I love.
    I love…
