  • Man who killed 3 in crash was intoxicated

Gabriel Delrisco is the name of a man who killed 3 innocent children in a crash. Authorities confirmed he was beyond alcohol legal limit. Now he has to live with knowing he killed 4-year-old Amber Serrano, 7-year-old Esmeralda Serrano and their 10-year-old brother Hector Serrano .

The parents have been getting help from Florida’s community to pay for the funeral arrangements and while they miss time from work.

I just don’t understand why people get behind the wheel when they know they can’t drive. Sit in your car for a few hours if you have to, until you sober up. Anything, but get into the car and drive away. This is what can happen, and as usual the driver is still alive. Isn’t this how it works. The family that lost so much now suffers over a man who’s still alive, over a man who I am to believe murdered their family. He might as well have grabbed a gun and shot all three children, in the end of the day they will no long be with us. Why is it, do you think the drunk driver usually lives? I think it’s part of a bigger plan, beyond you and me. That man lived so that he can suffer knowing he murdered these children, he will have to live in jail for the rest of his life. Some people may think that isn’t enough, but to a man who was free and now has to live with that guilt in a small room for the rest of his life, that’s probably worse than being in hell.

I couldn’t think, what a tragedy this must be on the family of the three children, how do you keep moving forward, one foot at a time, knowing that you will be going home to an empty house? All questions I’m sure they are thinking themselves. I pray today that God will give them the strength to move forward, the strength to survive & may those three wonderful children rest in peace.

  • Singer Island beaches off limits as tons of sharks migrate near shore

I saw this Link & you can read more about it HERE. It even has a video of the shark jumping out of the water. It’s incredible.

Lifeguards say they saw they say “a thousand” sharks coming up near shore, of course I’m sure they are exaggerating, but it was a lot of sharks. Little by little, you can see 20, 30 & 40 sharks. A few surfers were near South Hutchinson Island in Martin County, when they caught a shark jumping out of the water. The footage is actually incredible, how close the one surfer was to the shark.

What would you do if you were so close to a shark? I don’t know what I would do. That to me is one of the most scariest things you can encounter in the water. The beach has been closed for a week now and they say Wednesday the sharks came up really close the shore. Hopefully they will leave soon, so the people can go back to enjoying the water.

  • DUI manslaughter charge filed in doctor’s hit-and-run death

I spoke yesterday about Dr. Robert Geronemus. The man that hit him luckily in this case was caught. He is now being charged with a DUI manslaughter charge. The man: Richard Anthony Doval, 40. He did not stop after hitting Dr. Geronemus. When the police pulled him over they found an open, half-bottle of liquor in the truck. They say his speech was slurred and he had the odor of alcohol. Richard Doval tried to say the damage on the truck was from hitting a mailbox. Seriously, RICHARD!!! They have witnesses….

I am happy they caught up to this idiot and they were able to arrest him, unlike some other cases that are still currently pending. But the facts remain, Dr. Geronemus is no longer with us, his partners will miss him, his patience will miss him, his friends will miss him, but more importantly his Family will miss him. Why, because some idiot couldn’t control his liquor habits, couldn’t do it at home and stepped into his truck, too wasted to drive straight. He didn’t only ruin the life of someone who tried to save others, he ruined the Dr. Geronemus’s families life. He also ruined his own life.

May the strength guide this family to move forward in life, and may the man who caused these sins be punished for what he did.

  • Doctor in Miami Hit, killed crossing street

I have mentioned this before, that every morning I look into what the news will say today. Today I read this article about a Doctor who went to a conference in Downtown Miami, him and 3 other doctors went out to dinner and were heading back to the hotel, when Dr. Robert Geronemus was struck by a Truck. Another hit and run? Yes, can you believe it. I think I have already written about 2 other cases of hit and runs this year.

Luckily in this case witnesses were able to follow the truck and found a Miami police man, the man was arrested and charged, his name is still waiting to be released. Not so lucky, Dr. Robert Geronemus didn’t survive. He was 60 years old, two practices specializing in kidney failures and now his family has to deal with his death because some idiot ran him over. I just can’t understand what is wrong with people these days.

It saddens me to hear such horrible events. How can someone just run someone over and keep going. As if they just ran over a bird or something, even then I think I would freak out and get out of my car. But that’s just me.

Rest in Peace Dr. Geronemus & may your family find the peace within them to keep moving forward without you in this life time.

  • GianFranco Rivoli’s family needs help to pay Funeral

I received this letter from a woman named Iris who knows the family, Please read:

    Hi Kristin,
I received this from a co-worker who goes to the same church as Gianfranco’s Mom. Thought maybe you or your mom could pass the message around that the family is in need. If you have any questions, let me know. You have a beautiful heart. Thank you.

    Dear friends:

As many of you have heard through my email last night or even might have seen it on the news of the terrible tragedy of the loss of our little angel Gianfranco Rivoli who has gone to the Lord at the tender age of six years old after a terrible accident. We thank you all for your prayers and ask you to continue to keep this family in your thoughts and prayers during this very painful time. The family appreciates your thoughtfulness and love.

Many of you have called and asked for us to share any particular need the family may have, at this time, we would like to share a very urgent need. Tomorrow the family will begin to make funeral arrangements, however we have learned today that they presently are facing a very difficult financial situation and may not be able to afford the cost of the funeral. At this time my brothers and sisters we ask you all to prayerfully consider joining us in making a contribution in the amount the Lord may lead you. Please share this email with friends, ministry partners and family. Pray that others may feel moved to give. Please know that this is very time sensitive, so we would need to move very quickly.

The Lord has called our sister Lee Menendez to graciously open an account at Washington Mutual to make it easier for individuals to make deposits and facilitate a check for the family. (It was confirmed that this is a legit account and address) The account number is (3584413244). The account is under Elizabeth Menendez, if you like, you can mail a copy of the deposit slip with a note to the family to the following addres:
    Menendez CPA 18459
    Pines Blvd #236
    Pembroke Pines, FL 33029

We trust that the Lord faithfulness, He is the great provider and will meet the needs of this family through the generosity of others. Please continue to join us in prayer for this very special family during this difficult time and may the Lord bless you for all your efforts.

    “Live to Give”

    With love in Christ,

    Iris Marrero

~ Gianfranco’s funeral was on Friday 1.23.09 although the funeral has already passed we hope that anyone who can, will contribute to the family. They are still in need of our help.

  • Life’s many changes

Do you ever wonder where you would be had you made a left turn in life instead of a right turn? Would you change things?

I don’t think I would. Whatever choices I made in life, is what made me into ME. Maybe I would change a few things. Like finishing school earlier instead of feeling like I should be so much more than what I am now. Other than that, I wouldn’t change a thing.

The only regret I truly have is never finishing school. Had I finished, I would have had my degree right now and in a different industry of work. But you make the choices you make, and you learn to live with them. I still don’t know what I want to do/be when “I GROW UP”. 😉

I don’t think most of us know that question. I do know however that I am happy with the way my life is right now and I am working to only make it better. There are some things that I would have done differently, because it would have changed certain financial situations in my life right now, but you live, you learn and you keep moving forward, and that’s exactly what I have done.

You need to strive for the things you want, and be positive and soon you will see all of your dreams coming true….

  • College courses

I am currently taking 2 online classes. I had to take 2 quizzes last night because they were due on the same day. Neither class gave me the grade up front, which means that we have to wait for the professor to grade it and post it. TORTURE!

Why can’t they just post it right away, especially if it’s a multiple choice exam? One course I am taking is Critical Thinking, I don’t like this class at all, I had 4 questions on the quiz and you had to answer them in your own words of what you understood about the discussions. I didn’t like this at all, and it was very unexpected. My second class is a Nutrition course, this one was a multiple choice 10 question quiz. Loved it, even though it was a bit harder than expected, but I’m hoping that I did good.

I was talking to a calssmate last night, helping her out, because she is new to the online courses, and she was telling me that she is still waiting to hear back from FASFA. Unbelievable. This is why some people don’t go to college. If the student loan doesn’t approve you in time and you don’t have the money to pay up front, you can’t get your education. There has to be a better way for this to work. Any suggestions?

Well…..Wish me luck, crossing my fingers for a good grade =)

  • Rest in Peace Gian Franco Rivoli

Gian Franco Rivoli, went to the school where my mom teaches. She helps take care of the disabled children. She loves it, she has always been a care taker, and every child has a piece of her heart. Tuesday Morning a piece of my mothers heart broke when she saw in the news a picture of Gian Franco Rivoli. She thought she saw his picture but wasn’t sure why he was on the news until she heard the devastating news that Gian Franco had passed away.

Gian suffered from severe scoliosis. According to a police spokesman, the condition affected his physical and mental capabilities, but it wasn’t clear if it played a role in the drowning.

My mom says that the mother of Gian Franco was very religious, you can feel her belief in God and how faithful she was that one day Gian Franco would get better.

It’s so sad to hear stories like this one. Why was Gian Franco brought into this world with such a horrible disease, to only drown at the age of 6? I do believe that we all have a purpose here. We come into this world to learn lessons, and once we are done with our lessons we leave. Others are brought into the world to teach other lessons, and once they are done, they leave. Perhaps Gian Franco came into this world to teach his parents something about life, and perhaps his lesson was learned, and it was time for him to go. What those lessons are, only God knows.

I couldn’t imagine finding my son or daughter or nephew or anyone I love, drown in my own back yard. The questions that must go through your mind of what you could have done to stop this horrific event. I don’t think there is anything, anyone could have done. I believe that when it’s time for you to leave, it’s time. I wrote about a boy who told his family he was going to kill himself, he had a knife in his hand and his family called the cops to try and save him. The boy went towards the cops with the knife and when the tazer gun didn’t work, they had no choice but to shoot the boy. He died later in the hospital. Ironic? Either he was going to kill himself or be killed. He was just meant to die. I couldn’t fathom the thought of why a young child “should” or is the “time” for them to die. It’s the unthinkable, you don’t expect your children to die before you. Life works in ways sometimes we’ll never understand.

I pray that peace will come to Gian Franco’s family and may they keep their faith that there is better out there.

  • Obama’s Inauguration….

I have never seen such a big fuss about the inauguration of a soon to be president. This is something that will definitely go down in history. Here in South Florida they are having “watch parties”.
You can click HERE to see where you can go.

I have to be at work today, but hopefully we can turn on our computers to a news station to watch the inauguration.

This economy has been going down and I believe that it’s just gotten worse lately, with the crime scenes. I don’t think that Obama is a miracle worker, that he’s just going to fix our economy and make everything okay over night, but I do believe that he’s the beginning of what we need to fix things.

  • Happy Monday

Happy Monday! Yeah right! LOL. Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and I have to work, can you believe this shit! Isn’t it supposed to be a national holiday, so why don’t I have it off?! This is the joy of still being in school or working for a school. I wish I had all those days off. My mom’s at home now with my nephews. I wish I was there with her!

So on another note, It’s 11 already so that’s good. Bad news, I have to go home to deal with a few things, I still have assignments I haven’t finished for both classes and everything is due by Wednesday! AHHHH I’m freaking out here. I can’t help it, I freak out if things aren’t done within time, usually I’m already done with my assignments and all I have left are my quizzes. This time though, even though I started reading the chapters early, it’s harder and less time, so I’m rushed with time trying to finish all my work.

Well Happy Monday, is it Friday yet?!?! 😉

    Kristin Nicole
