  • My boss friend requested me on FB?..

    The Question:

Would you find it strange if your male boss made a friend request to you on Facebook? If you were working there for a week only…
He’s not exactly the friendliest guy either…he’s okay but a little nerdy lol

I kind of feel like I have no other choice but to except because it’s a good job and I don’t want him to hate me for not accepting him… What should I do?
    (Revised – KN)

    My Response:

    Dear Friend Request;

I do find it a little strange considering he is your boss and you have only been working there a week. If you don’t want to deny him the friendship request I would add him to a list that you can create under your Privacy Settings. You can manage what some can see and what others can’t see. For example; you can add him to the privacy setting where he cannot see any of your personal information or any of your pictures, and he can only see your wall. If he asks, just tell him you do not have any pictures up and that you barely log onto Facebook. Create your Privacy Settings before requesting him, and if he asks you if you got his friend request tell him you barely log on, so you haven’t seen it. (This way he doesn’t think you are ignoring his friend request), but don’t bring it up so that it makes it look like you really haven’t seen the request, don’t mention it unless he does first…

I don’t think management should request Facebook friendships, I think it can be awkward and or snooping on their part. If it’s too much just take Facebook off for a while, but I do not think it is necessary if you add him to a privacy list.

    Good luck

  • 52 Weeks of Awesome

    52 Weeks of Awesome

Have you heard about Pace & Kyeli? Neither had I until one day I stumbled across a link on Twitter that took me to their website, Connection-Revolution.com. I was inspired by one of Kyeli’s posts, well written, written from the heart kind of story. You can read up on the About Page on Pace & Kyeli’s website.

So the other day I was going through my twitter feed when I noticed a post from Pace on her website, from another fellow twitter friend named @Caffeinatedelf — her story — A more Awesome Me, I read with definite detail how this woman’s life had changed and how? From two people who inspired people to register and buy their e-book called 52 WEEKS TO AWESOME! The story behind it from Pace & Kyeli themselves:

How did the idea come to start?

When we wrote our first book, The Usual Error (http://usualerror.com),we found that even though we were writing about communication, deep down, we were really writing about personal development. So, for our second book, we wrote about personal development directly.

    Why personal development?

Because it’s a topic near and dear to our hearts. We’re passionate about it and our lives are full of it. To explain why we wrote our second book in the form of an e-course instead of a regular book, I’ll refer you to this blog post:
    Connection-Revolution.com

    Whose idea was it?

Both of ours. The two of us were having a fun conversation in Austin Java in 2009, brainstorming potential product ideas. We came up with about 5, including “How to Be Awesome”. We sent our readers a survey, asking them which of the 5 ideas they were most interested in. “How to Change the World with Your Writing” was #1, so we did that first. It became the World-Changing Writing Workshop Worldchangingwriting.com. “How to Be Awesome” came in second, so we did that one next. (:

    With love,
    ~Pace & Kyeli~

Most people don’t try to inspire others, some just take their knowledge of how to make your life just a little bit better and keep it to themselves, but Pace & Kyeli have brought it to whoever wants it. I don’t know if it works by experience but just read their blog and find out for yourself. Unfortunately Pace & Kyeli told me that Registration was closed for the 52 weeks of awesome but it will be back sometime next year.

Good luck Pace & Kyeli in all your ventures and keep inspiring people the way you do.

  • New Apple – iPad

Have you seen the new Apple iPad? It’s gorgeous, it’s almost like a bigger iPhone, just better on the eyes to read.

    Features:

It features Safari (Wi-Fi) – Email (where you can turn the iPad to portrait like you do the iPhone to fill in the screen better), Photos, Videos, Youtube, iPod, iTunes, App Store, iBooks (This one is my personal favorite, I love to read books, and even though I can do it on my iPhone, the screen sometimes is just too small, and my eyes begin to hurt, my only concern is how much do the books cost on iBooks?), Maps, Notes, Calendar, Contacts and Home Screen & Spot Light Search. Whoa, is that it? Do you need more? Did I mention that any apps you bought on your iPhone can also be placed on the iPad? Well they can!

    My thoughts:

I think that Apple as created another monster, I think this is a beautiful design and I know one thing for sure, my boyfriend is trying to find reasons to buy one. My only problem the price, but like any Apple Device it’s always a little more expensive then others. It starts at $499 with just the Wi-Fi, but if you want Wi-Fi + 3G it bumps itself up to $629 (GEEZE, $130 dollars more, OUCH Apple, and that’s only for the 16GB). If you want the one with the most GB, they offer 64GB Wi-Fi only for $699 Wi-Fi + 3G = $829. Is it worth it? Do you think it’s worth it?

  • Potentially changing the site URL…

I started Soapnights.com with a different idea in mind. I started off writing and talking about Grey’s Anatomy. If you know me, you know I’m a big fan, and it’s really the only show I have time to still watch with my busy schedule. As time went by it became difficult for me to watch Grey’s some nights and I had less time to chat about it on the site. There were also big competitors like oh lets say… ABC.com 🙁

    Soapnights.com

Soapnights became something more to me, I started thinking about what I do best, what I love the most. Helping people, current events, random thoughts, poetry all mixed up in one website. Soapnights is slowly becoming a site where if you have a problem or random question that you want advice on I'll give it to you. I'll write about current events that I think are important for others to know. Or random thoughts about every day life, including a few poems I've written. So eventually I want to potentially change the site URL to either kristin-nicole.com or staging.kristinnicole.com/. Depending on which one I can get. Any opinions on the dash?

    Kristin Nicole…

staging.kristinnicole.com/ I am hoping will lean towards more helping people with their problems and questions. If you look through my site you will see Categories and under Friendships and Families I have a few people who have written in with questions, you can get an idea on where I want to go with this. I will continue to do what I do, write what I feel and say what I want to say because that's just who I am.

I hope that you like who I am too and continue to come visit my site. I can't wait to get the new design up and running and change the URL to krisitn-nicole.com or staging.kristinnicole.com/.

    Please give me your input….

  • iPhone 3Gs

    iPhone 3Gs - Isn't it just beautiful?!?
    iPhone 3Gs – Isn’t it just beautiful?!?

I finally got the iPhone 3Gs – 32GB Black. I woke early and got in line around 6am. I thought it was going to take longer then it actually took, it was a good thing we reserved it beforehand. We were in and out by 8:15am. There was a little problem with the transfer to AT&T so I had to go back and fix it with the apple store. I went to the one in the Falls, and I have to say the service and the people were a joy to be around. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. (Some might think, well of course, you’re buying an iPhone. Well this is not the case at all Apple Stores).

    Example

My friend went to the Apple Store in Dadeland Mall and he went Saturday and before going he called to see if there was a line. They told him there was only a few people in line. When he got to the store, there was no line. So he stepped up to the front and told them he was there to purchase his iPhone he reserved. They asked him to please wait in line. He looked around confused and told the person up front that there was no line. He told me later, this is why that store was empty. Haha

    So back to my story:

I had been going back and forth with the idea of getting the iPhone, but I was with Tmobile and the plans there are just really hard to say no to. I was paying around $67 a month vs what I will be paying now at AT&T for about $105 a month. I figured it’s about 35 to 40 dollars more a month, which in fact if you can’t afford is a lot more a month, but I figured what the hell, why not?!? I can afford it right now and it’s a great phone. I am truly happy that I finally got the iPhone, I haven’t been able to stop playing with it and figuring things out. I am not as tech savy so it might take me a while. I downloaded the WordPress but I have to figure out how to post my blogs from there. So right now I’m just using my computer, but I will let you know when I make my first post from the iPhone. 🙂

    Until next time….

  • Twitter is getting huge

I look at the news, I open up Yahoo, MSN, Google & everywhere I go I seem to hear or read about TWITTER. The first time I had heard of it was from my boyfriend. He told me to sign up to try and promote Soapnights, so that’s exactly what I started doing. Before that though, I had never heard about Twitter, from friends, from other people especially not the news. Lately though seems like it’s talked about, pretty much everywhere, and everyone. For example, this morning I read “Broward school officials tweet their news”. You can link Here for the story. They signed up and now they are tweeting, updated news & if there is a hurricane, what to do. It’s amazing how one website can become so popular.

How long will this last though? Is it a phase people are going through, or is it something that will really last a long time?!? I have to admit, I myself am a bit addicted. Some people, like the CEO of Twitter Evan Williams or @ev uses twitter to say “Lessons from today: Obama’s team: smart and committed. Learned a lot and was inspired. Also: people should take my tweets less seriously.”

Some like @tonycarrera write: “Watching Tottenham vs Man Utd FA Cup Quaterfinal replay. Great game so far.” Others simply promote what they are trying to make big in life, whether it’s their business or blog, or website or sometimes like most, a little of both. I do a little of both myself.

I think its amazing such a simple website has become so big. Way to go TWITTER. I’m loving it =)

If you wish to follow me on twitter go to my sidebar, and you’ll see where you can follow me. Or simply go to @soapnights or @kristinquintas. Twitter away…

    Kristin Nicole

  • Twitter not working….

I logged onto Twitter this morning and it was fine, but then all of a sudden it gave an error that stating “Something is technically wrong.
Thanks for noticing—we’re going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.”

It’s been this way for an hour now. I have noticed that have a lot of tweaks to figure out, this happened the other day while my boyfriend was on also. Hopefully they fix it soon.
